About Jeff

Jeff is the Finance and Crypto Editor of Fortune magazine, where he has written prize-winning features on topics like the rise of prediction markets and Robinhood’s disruption of the financial industry.

His book Kings of Crypto, published by Harvard Business Review Press in 2020, earned a starred review from Publishers Weekly and was featured in the The New York Times and The Economist.

An experienced speaker and moderator, he leads high-level conversations at forums like American Banker, the Reagan Institute, and Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech.

Jeff is an authority on cryptocurrency, which he has covered since 2013, and the intersection of technology and finance. He has written extensively about how new blockchain and AI tools are remaking Wall Street and consumer payments.

A native of Vancouver, Jeff received a BA from McGill University and graduated with distinction from the McGill Faculty of Law before passing the bar in Ontario and New York. His legal interests include contract law, and how copyright and patent law are used to both encourage and suppress creativity.

Jeff obtained an MA in Journalism from Columbia University, where he later took part in the prestigious Knight Bagehot Fellowship. He lives in Southern California, where he enjoys good cocktails and exploring the beach with his family.
